Pre-Algebra

Grade level 9. Full year course. No prerequisites. Pre-Algebra is designed for those students who are not ready to enter a high school algebra course. The topics covered include a general review of all the mathematical principles learned through the eighth grade and an introduction to basic algebraic concepts.

Algebra I

Students will explore: foundations of Algebra, solving equations, solving inequalities, an introduction to functions, linear functions, systems of equations and inequalities, exponents and exponential functions, polynomials and factoring, quadratic functions and equations, radical expressions and equations, and data analysis and probability. Throughout the course, the student learns how to apply the concepts in 
real-life situations.

Algebra II

Algebra II is an extension of Algebra I with variables, algebraic expressions, equations, functions, inequalities, and their graphical representation.  The course introduces the students to exponential functions and logarithms, complex numbers, and matrices and determinants.  The students develop the ability to explore and solve mathematical problems, think critically, work cooperatively with others, and communicate mathematical ideas clearly.

Applied Math

This is a study of basic mathematical concepts and their applications.  Applications include such topics as salary and paychecks, checking accounts and banking along with applications to agriculture, business, health, and technical areas.

After graduating from Newman University and pursuing a career as a rate analyst and later as a stay-at-home mom, Mrs. Becker completed the Transition to Teaching Program at Wichita State University and began teaching at Conway Springs High School in 2008.
